Each painting in this series represents a different stage of the monarch life cycle: egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, butterfly. It is paralleled by the stages of a little girl growing up.

As a child my mom and I raised monarch
Caterpillars that we found in our yard. She still raises caterpillars on our window sill. Her beaming look of joy and pride to see her caterpillars and her children grow up inspired me to paint this series.
